Local data

Names, profile photos, anniversaries, keepsake photos, stories, dates, places, and drafts are stored in this device's app storage. This version has no accounts and does not sync your collection to another device or person.

Yifang reads only photos you select in the system photo picker or take with your permission. Original images are saved in the app. Their capture dates and locations can help fill in keepsake details. Subject detection and cutouts are processed on your device.

Apple places and maps

Importing photos reads dates and coordinates locally, without automatically looking up a place name. Only after you choose Look up the place with Apple and confirm are this keepsake’s coordinates sent to Apple’s location service. Don’t send makes no lookup request; you can still enter a place yourself. Each lookup needs a new confirmation. No lasting permission is stored.

The place list can be viewed locally. Apple Maps receives map-area requests only after you agree to load the map. Choose again when places change or you leave the page. Place searches send search terms to Apple. Photos and stories are not uploaded with place lookups or map requests. Yifang does not read your device’s live location.

Canceling confirmation sends no coordinates. You can stop waiting for an approved lookup, but requests already sent cannot be recalled. Old results cannot overwrite new content after changing a photo or place, leaving the page, or moving to the background.

Speech input

After you tap to speak and grant permission, Yifang uses Apple speech recognition to turn audio into text. Audio may be sent to Apple's servers for processing. Yifang does not save audio files. The transcription becomes story text that you can edit and save.

Manage camera, microphone and speech-recognition permissions in iOS Settings. You can keep typing without speech. Editing a place does not remove location metadata from an original photo.

Backups, retention and deletion

Yifang has no server that receives your collection, no ads or third-party analytics, and no cross-app tracking. iOS may back up app data according to your iCloud or computer backup settings.

Keepsakes and drafts stay on this device and are not cleared automatically. Removing a keepsake hides it from the collection; its content and photos remain and can be restored. Imported image files may remain after a draft is discarded or a photo is replaced.

This version does not offer permanent deletion of individual items. To clear all local app data, choose Delete App in iOS Settings. Offload App keeps the data. Originals in Photos and existing system backups are not deleted; manage them separately in Photos or backup settings.

Full backups and restoration you initiate

You can initiate a complete local .yifangbackup export from Us > Backup and migration. It includes keepsakes, drafts, recently removed items, associated or retained images such as originals and cutouts, profile photos, personal details and anniversaries. The backup is not encrypted and may retain metadata such as locations in original photos. Keep it secure.

The system file picker lets you choose where to save the export. Your chosen file provider may sync it according to its settings. Yifang does not automatically upload or share the backup. Exporting preserves the original library.

To restore, select a backup, review its checked content preview and then confirm the import. The destination library must be empty, including keepsakes, drafts, personal details, profile photos and retained media. Existing data is not merged or overwritten. Importing does not delete the original backup.

Deleting the app does not delete backup files you saved elsewhere. The original library, exported copies, system backups and photo-library originals are separate copies to check and manage in their respective locations. Delete separately saved backups yourself.

Policy updates

We update this policy when features or data handling change. New uses of data will be explained before you use the relevant feature.
